The Willis L. Miller Library was a community endeavor, having engaged multiple community groups, stakeholders and county residents in the design process to determine what a modern library looked like.  A 36,000 SF former Laboratory was renovated for the relocation of the Lowndes County Regional Library. There were two separate buildings, one large and one smaller, connected by a breezeway and green space. The program required providing for the existing book stacks, Circulation and Reference areas as well as the new requirements of a large Community Hall, flexible space and collaboration areas. There is a separate but visible Children’s Area, Teen Area, small and large Meeting Rooms, and a Maker Space. This library and program is the direct result of the needs expressed and feedback we were given from the community.
